When choosing between Voy and Second Nature for weight-loss medication support, the most significant difference is clinical credibility and experience.

Second Nature has been delivering NHS-commissioned weight-loss services since 2017, with seven years of published clinical outcomes supporting its effectiveness.

In contrast, Voy launched in 2024 as a sub-brand of Manual (a men’s health company focusing on hair loss and fertility) and currently has no NHS affiliations or peer-reviewed research.

Both programmes offer weight-loss injections like Mounjaro alongside digital support, but Second Nature’s established track record provides greater peace of mind for patients seeking a clinically-proven approach to long-term weight management.

Second Nature also offers a weight-loss programme without medication, which you can learn more about here.

NHS partnership & clinical evidence

Second Nature’s established relationship with the NHS sets it apart as the most clinically trusted medication-supported weight loss programme in the UK.

Since 2017, the NHS has commissioned Second Nature to deliver weight loss and type 2 diabetes programmes across the UK, with over half of all UK NHS Health and Care boards using Second Nature services.

This NHS partnership ensures robust clinical oversight, data security, and evidence-based approaches.

Our published clinical results show:

  • Participants lost an average of 5.9kg at 12 months, with a 90% retention rate
  • 62.5% achieved at least 5% weight loss by 3 months
  • 40% of type 2 diabetes patients reduced HbA1c below diagnostic thresholds

In contrast, Voy was launched in 2024 as a sub-brand of Manual, a company primarily focused on men’s health issues like hair loss and fertility.

While Voy cites that participants using their programme “lost 5 times more weight than with diet & exercise alone,” this data comes from internal customer surveys rather than peer-reviewed clinical research.

Second Nature offers the reassurance of NHS validation and published clinical evidence for patients concerned about safety, effectiveness, and long-term outcomes.

Support structure & coaching approach

The support you receive during your weight loss journey significantly impacts both your immediate results and long-term success.

Expert support

Second Nature provides access to UK-registered dietitians and nutritionists with extensive experience supporting patients on weight-loss medications. Our health coaches receive specialist training in:

  • Managing medication side effects through dietary adjustments and healthy habits
  • Creating sustainable habit changes for long-term success
  • Supporting the transition to weight maintenance after reaching your weight loss goal
  • Addressing psychological aspects of weight loss and health

Voy offers health coaching, but as a newer service without the established track record of Second Nature, their coaches have less collective experience specifically with medication-supported weight loss journeys.

Peer support & community

Second Nature places you in a small group with other members on similar journeys, creating a supportive community where you can share experiences, challenges, and strategies.

This community aspect provides emotional support that research shows is crucial for long-term success.

Voy’s approach focuses more on individual coaching without structured peer support groups.

Comprehensive app features

Second Nature’s app provides comprehensive tools for your weight loss journey:

  • Food and mood journals to track patterns and triggers
  • Over 300 recipes designed to work well with weight-loss medications
  • Daily articles (written or audio) on health, nutrition, psychology, and habit formation
  • Medication tab with delivery tracking and side effect support

Voy’s app offers more basic features like dose reminders and weight tracking, with fewer comprehensive lifestyle support tools.

Pricing & value comparison

When comparing programme costs, it’s important to consider not just the monthly fee but the comprehensive value offered:

Second Nature

  • Mounjaro programme: £229-£299/month (£100 off first month)
  • Non-medication plan: £9.99 trial → £28-£38/month
  • Value-added features: 1:1 dietitian support, peer groups, comprehensive app, NHS-backed approach

Voy

  • Mounjaro programme: £129 first month → £169+/month
  • Wegovy programme: £135.20 → £169+/month
  • Non-medication option: Not available
  • Money-back guarantee: If you don’t lose 10% of body weight in 6 months

While Voy appears to have a lower initial price point, it’s important to consider the comprehensive support system that comes with Second Nature, including experienced dietitians, peer support groups, and the peace of mind from choosing a programme used by the NHS since 2017.

Second Nature’s investment in your journey also includes long-term success planning, preparing you for sustainable weight maintenance after medication, which can ultimately provide better value than a lower upfront cost without comprehensive support.

Take home message

Weight-loss medications like Mounjaro and Wegovy can be transformative when paired with the right support programme. They help silence food-related thoughts and provide the mental space to develop sustainable habits for long-term success.

When choosing between Voy and Second Nature, consider these key differences:

  1. Clinical credibility: Second Nature has seven years of NHS partnership and published research, while Voy is a newer service launched in 2024 without NHS affiliation
  2. Support approach: Second Nature offers comprehensive behavioural support with experienced dietitians and peer groups, while Voy takes a more basic approach
  3. Long-term success: Second Nature demonstrates sustained weight loss at 12 months with a 90% retention rate, with specific strategies for maintaining results post-medication
  4. Programme flexibility: Second Nature provides options with or without medication, while Voy only offers medication programmes

The ultimate goal isn’t just losing weight in the short term; it’s making healthy habits feel second nature, becoming part of who you are rather than something you do for a limited time.

Do not use Voy. They sent me a faulty pen and have refused to refund me. They have cost me £150 for nothing. They won’t take it back and will not replace.

Can you help me cope with a restricted diet? I’m on low fibre(low residue) for life because I can no longer tolerate dietary fibre. But it excludes most fruit veg and wholegrains so is very heavy on carbs and protein, so not helpful when I need to lose so much weight
