2) Have you ever tried any weight loss programmes or slimming clubs prior to Second Nature?
Yes, about eight years ago, on the suggestion of a friend, I joined Slimming World. I tried it for about six months but I didn’t find it very effective.
Before that, I’d been using the online food tracking app MyFitnessPal for tracking meals and exercise so I gave up on Slimming World and went back to MyFitnessPal. Later on I added in the 5:2 eating pattern into that. That slowly did the trick and got me the weight loss I wanted for my daughter’s wedding six years ago.
3) How did you hear about Second Nature?
I saw that a friend of mine on Facebook had liked the Second Nature Facebook page. I knew she had achieved a considerable weight loss, over about a year, after being found to be pre-diabetic. So I had a look at the Second Nature website because I knew I’d put too much weight back on and needed to act to reduce it.
4) What made you sign up?
I’m happy using online apps. From looking at the Second Nature website I liked the way the programme is set up: the peer group, mentor, recipes. I like the topics that Second Nature bring into the programme: mindfulness, exercise, etc. When I filled in the little questionnaire on the website, my results suggested that I could lose 7.5kg over the 3 months. I have never lost that amount of weight that quickly. I didn’t exactly believe I would lose that much but I’d have been happy with half of the amount. So I signed up. I actually lost 8kg in the 3 months!
5) Do you feel that Second Nature is good value for money?
I think it’s excellent value for money, both the 3 month and the sustain programme.
I really appreciated the peer group and the input from our mentor, plus the recipes are amazingly good.
