Voy and Second Nature are both weight-loss programmes offering Wegovy injections alongside a digital weight-loss programme.
The main obvious difference between Voy and Second Nature is the length of time these companies have been operating. Second Nature has been running for 10 years and has been used by the NHS for over 6 years, building up a base of trust and credibility.
Voy is a very new brand and, as of January 2024, still had a stock of Latin fillers on their website – indicating the website was only launched recently.
Based on this, if you’re looking for a weight-loss programme alongside a GLP-1 medication like semaglutide, we’ll be biased and recommend that you choose Second Nature over Voy.
If nothing else, for peace of mind that you’re choosing a trusted and established brand.
In terms of the weight-loss programmes themselves, there are both similarities and differences which we’ve summarised below.
The three main similarities between Voy and Second Nature
- Whole-food approach to weight loss: Both programmes recommend a whole-food-rich diet to support sustainable weight loss.
- Pharmacy partnerships: Both companies are partnered with a pharmacy to deliver the programme and ensure the clinical safety of all patients.
- Health coaches and nutritionists: Both programmes utilise the expertise of registered nutritionists or dietitians as health coaches to provide personalised support.
Additionally, there are several key differences between the two programmes that go beyond the level of experience that we’ve described above. These are summarised below.
The three main differences between Voy and Second Nature
1) Second Nature is used by the NHS and NICE-approved
Second Nature has been used by the NHS since 2017. We’ve delivered programmes for the NHS in type 2 diabetes management, diabetes prevention, and weight management.
The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recently announced that Wegovy would be available via digital weight management services provided by Second Nature and three other companies supporting the NHS.
This approval recognises the high level of patient care and support that Second Nature has provided our members in the past.
In comparison, Voy has no affiliations with the NHS or trusted healthcare providers in the UK. (This isn’t to say they won’t continue to grow and develop these partnerships in the future.)
2) Second Nature is clinically proven
Second Nature has over seven years of published clinical data outlining its effectiveness.
Our programme is proven to support individuals to lose weight; individuals on our programme lose an average of over 6kg after 12 months.
Additionally, our programme is proven to support individuals living with type 2 diabetes to lower their blood sugar levels.
So much so that our original pilot in Portsmouth with the NHS showed that 40% of patients lowered their HbA1c (average blood sugar levels) below the diagnostic threshold for type 2 diabetes. Putting them on the path to potential remission in the future.
Additionally, Second Nature has recently published the first paper to outline the effectiveness of a digital programme alongside semaglutide medication.
You can find all of Second Nature’s published data here.
In comparison, Voy doesn’t currently have any published data in medical journals showcasing the impact of their programme on weight loss, blood sugar control, or other health markers.
However, this will likely change in the future as the company grows and collects more data.
3) Cost and Trustpilot reviews
- The total monthly cost of the Second Nature programme, including GLP-1 medication, is £229
- The total monthly cost of the Voy programme, including GLP-1 medication, is £229 (before discount offers are added)
- Second Nature’s current Trustpilot score based on 6,270 reviews is 4.8, and are rated as ‘Excellent’
- Voy’s current Trustpilot score based on 28 reviews is 4.4, and are rated as ‘Excellent’
Take home message
We live in a paradoxical time where we have more options than ever to help us lose weight and achieve a healthy lifestyle. At the same time, obesity and chronic disease rates worldwide continue to rise.
There’s a lot we don’t know about treating obesity and chronic disease, but we do know there won’t be a global solution for everyone.
Second Nature and Voy offer comparable programmes at similar prices. However, if there’s one thing that stands out, it’s that Second Nature can offer you peace of mind.
Peace of mind that we’ve built up a base of trust and credibility with the NHS over the last 7 years (it’s worth noting that our Wegovy programme is a private programme and isn’t yet used by the NHS).
Peace of mind that we’ve been approved by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to deliver a digital weight-loss programme alongside semaglutide (Wegovy) medication.
If you want peace of mind when purchasing Wegovy, you might consider Second Nature.
