Jump to: Do you lose more weight on Ozempic or Mounjaro? | How to switch to Mounjaro on Second Nature

You can switch from Ozempic to Mounjaro, but they’re not interchangeable, which means they can’t be used simultaneously.

Additionally, if you replaced Ozempic with Mounjaro, you’d need to start at the lowest dose of Mounjaro and gradually titrate up to the higher doses.

For example, if you’re on 1 mg of Ozempic and switched to Mounjaro with Second Nature, you’d have to start on the lowest dose of Mounjaro, 2.5 mg.

Switching from Ozempic to Mounjaro

This drop in dosing is due to Mounjaro’s strict treatment protocol on Second Nature. Mounjaro is a new medication in the UK, and our clinical team will only approve prescriptions for individuals starting at a dose of 2.5 mg.

After being on a higher dose of Ozempic, dropping to the lowest dose of Mounjaro may be challenging. It’s possible your appetite might change during this transition as your body adjusts to the new medication.

Still, with the support and expertise of our registered nutritionists and clinicians, they were able to make this transition safely and effectively.

Do you lose more weight on Ozempic or Mounjaro?

Research suggests that Mounjaro generally leads to more weight loss than Ozempic, with the highest dose of Mounjaro leading to almost double the amount of weight loss as Ozempic after 40 weeks.

A randomised controlled trial in 1,897 individuals living with type 2 diabetes compared the impact of three doses of Mounjaro (5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg) to Ozempic 1 mg.

The results showed that after 40 weeks, Ozempic led to an average weight loss of 6.7%.

In comparison, Mounjaro 5 mg led to an average weight loss of 8.5%, 10 mg 11%, and 15 mg 13.1%.

These results suggest that Mounjaro generally leads to more weight loss than Ozempic, especially at higher doses.

Switching from Ozempic to Mounjaro on Second Nature

Second Nature has launched a medication-supported weight-loss programme for people who need the extra help to lose weight that Mounjaro and other weight-loss injections can provide.

Generally, we’d recommend trying our weight-loss programme before applying for a weight-loss injection.

Not only is it cheaper (~£33 a month compared to ~£229), it may be more sustainable to focus on habits and behaviours without the medication.

However, if you’ve tried every diet and weight-loss programme under the sun and, despite your best efforts over many years, you still can’t find the solution to maintain your weight loss and lower your cravings. Our medication programme may be for you.

Our medication-supported programme offers:

  • Peace of mind that we have over seven years of experience delivering weight-loss services in the UK and adhere to the highest standards of clinical safety
  • 1-to-1 support from a registered nutritionist or dietitian
  • A guaranteed ongoing prescription for either Mounjaro or Wegovy if you’re approved after a consultation with our clinical team
