You can purchase semaglutide online from registered and regulated clinics and pharmacies in the UK, like Second Nature as part of our Wegovy weight-loss programme.

You’ll need a prescription to buy semaglutide and we’ll provide this prescription for you and also deliver the medication to your door as part of our programme. You’ll firstly need to fill out a short health quiz to establish whether you’re eligible for the drug, as there are strict eligibility criteria.

It’s worth noting that the drug ‘semaglutide’ is sold under the brand name Wegovy, which has been approved in the UK for weight loss.

The other brand name for semaglutide, Ozempic, is no longer available in the UK for weight loss. Instead, it’s only available for people living with type 2 diabetes.

Aside from Wegovy, the other most popular weight-loss injection in the UK is called Mounjaro.

Mounjaro (the drug is called ‘tirzepatide’) is the brand new weight-loss medication from the pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly. It was launched in February 2024 and clinical trials have suggested better long-term weight-loss results than both Wegovy and Ozempic.

Second Nature has both a Wegovy weight-loss programme and a Mounjaro weight-loss programme, but as noted above there’s strict eligibility criteria.

How much does semaglutide cost?

Buying injectable semaglutide (Wegovy) from Second Nature starts from £229 for lowest doses of Wegovy (0.25mg and 0.5mg), rising up to £269 and £299 for the highest doses (2.4mg is the highest dose of Wegovy).

The cost of the weight-loss injection, Mounjaro, is currently the same: starting from £229 and rising to £299 for the highest doses.

How much weight will I lose on semaglutide?

Semaglutide leads to an average weight loss of 15-20% after 68 weeks and is more effective than other weight-loss injections, like Saxenda.

A randomised controlled trial was conducted in 2022 investigating the impact of semaglutide and liraglutide on weight loss in individuals living with obesity.

The results showed that the participants in the semaglutide group lost 15.8% of their body weight compared to 6.4% in the liraglutide group.

Semaglutide was also shown to be more tolerated than liraglutide. 13.5% of participants in the semaglutide group discontinued their treatment due to side effects, compared to 27.6% with liraglutide.

Over 80% of participants in both groups reported common side effects and GI-related issues such as constipation, cramping, bloating, and diarrhoea.

Due to the positive results from these studies, Semaglutide was made available in 2023 in the UK after the U.S. approved the drug in 2021.

It’s worth noting that research suggests that Mounjaro supports average weight loss of around 25% after one year (higher than the 15-20% seen with Wegovy). If you weighed 100kg, this would be a weight loss of 25kg.

How does semaglutide compare to weight loss without medication?

Lifestyle interventions without semaglutide tend to lead to an average weight loss of around 5-10%.

Losing and maintaining weight loss of more than 10% is associated with significantly reducing complications related to obesity, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

A recent paper published in The Lancet showed that nearly 20% of participants in lifestyle interventions without medications gain weight, around 40% lose between 1-10% of their body weight, and just 13% lose more than 10%.

In comparison, less than 5% of participants combining semaglutide with lifestyle interventions gain weight, around 10% lose between 1-10%, and 87% lose more than 10%.

So, 47% more people lose more than 10% of body weight on lifestyle interventions with semaglutide compared to lifestyle interventions alone.

Semaglutide isn’t a magic pill

Weight-loss injections are designed as additional tools for healthy lifestyle change and shouldn’t be considered as lifelong medications.

Instead, they should be used to help you kickstart your weight-loss journey whilst you focus on building new, healthy habits.

Consider the use of antidepressants for people living with depression. They’re not designed to cure the condition. Instead, they’re designed to allow room for therapy to treat the condition’s underlying cause.

Mounjaro and Wegovy are similar. These medications can help silence food-related thoughts and also give you a boost of confidence with more immediate weight-loss results.

This helps to buy you the time and headspace to understand why your body may have struggled to lose weight previously, and to build new long-term healthy habits.

The core focus of our medication programmes are to calm down the feeling of food noise, lower your cravings, and to allow you to build healthier habits to keep the weight off for good.

The ultimate goal is to make losing weight feel second nature.

Second Nature’s medication-supported programmes

Second Nature has two medication-supported programmes: a Wegovy weight-loss programme and a Mounjaro weight-loss programme.

If you’ve made the decision to try Wegovy or Mounjaro (assuming you’re eligible), why should you choose Second Nature over other medication providers?

For peace of mind.

Second Nature has worked with the NHS for over 6 years providing weight-loss programmes across the UK.

Whilst our Wegovy and Mounjaro weight-loss programmes are private and not currently used by the NHS, we’ve built the programmes with a focus on scientific evidence, patient safety, and data security.

We hope that our 6+ years of working with the NHS and building a track record of effective weight-loss results will give you peace of mind to give us a try.
