How much Foundayo will cost in the UK
Foundayo won’t have a single official price, because no weight-loss medication in the UK does.
Each pharmacy and online provider sets its own based on the unit costs from the manufacturer (Eli Lilly), which is why Mounjaro, Wegovy, and the Wegovy pill all cost different amounts depending on where you buy them.
Here’s what Foundayo will cost at Second Nature.

The price is the same for the first three doses, so your monthly cost stays at £129 through the early dose increases.
For comparison, the Wegovy pill at Second Nature costs £149 at its starting dose, rising to £269 at its 25 mg maintenance dose. Foundayo comes in £20 lower at the starting dose and £90 lower at the highest doses.
Part of the reason Foundayo can cost less is that orforglipron is a simpler molecule than semaglutide and cheaper to make at scale.
What you’d pay over your first year
Foundayo’s dosing schedule has 6 doses: 0.8 mg, 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg, 14.5 mg, and 17.2 mg, with a minimum of a month at each.1
The first three doses all cost £129 a month at Second Nature, so your monthly price doesn’t change until you reach 9 mg, at least three months in.
If you increase your dose each month on the minimum schedule up to the highest dose of 17.2 mg, your first year costs around £1,970 at the standard monthly prices: three months at £129, one at £149, and eight at £179.
The same year, the Wegovy pill costs around £2,970, because its price rises with each dose increase and reaches £269 a month from month four, if you need to go up to 25 mg.
Foundayo’s maintenance dose can be anywhere from 5.5 mg to 17.2 mg, so not everyone needs to climb to 17.2 mg.9
We recommend staying on the lowest dose for as long as that’s working for you. If you’re losing weight at a sustainable rate of about 1 lb a week, there’s no clinical reason to increase the dose, and it will also save you money.
Is Foundayo better value than the Wegovy pill?
Foundayo at Second Nature costs less than the Wegovy pill at comparable doses: £129 compared with £149 at the starting doses, and £179 compared with £269 at the highest.
The Wegovy pill produced more average weight loss in trials, though, so the choice between them isn’t only about price.
In its main trial, Foundayo produced an average weight loss of 11.2% over 72 weeks.2 The Wegovy pill produced an average weight loss of 13.6% over 64 weeks in its own trial.3
Both figures include everyone who joined each trial, whether or not they completed it.
The trials also reported higher figures, 12.4% for Foundayo and 16.6% for the Wegovy pill, which count only the people who stayed on treatment (consider this the more optimistic average, suggesting the drug’s higher weight-loss potential).2 3 We quote the lower figures because they reflect what tends to happen across a whole group, including people who stop.
However, averages don’t reflect how much weight an individual could lose on the drugs. For example, over 30% of participants on the Wegovy pill lost more than 20% of their body weight, and on Foundayo, it was around 18%.
So, while the Wegovy pill and Foundayo have lower average weight loss in trials, this isn’t to say that an individual patient couldn’t lose a significant amount of weight if they combined their treatment with healthy lifestyle changes.
Still, the two tablets haven’t been compared directly in the same trial, so we can’t know for sure how they’d perform under the same conditions.
The other practical difference between them is the routine. The Wegovy pill has to be taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with no more than half a glass of water, followed by a 30-minute wait before any food, drink, or other oral medications.
Foundayo has none of those rules. You can take it at any time of day, with or without food.1
Semaglutide is a peptide (a protein-like molecule) that our stomach normally breaks down before it can be absorbed.
The Wegovy pill avoids this with an absorption enhancer called SNAC, which needs an empty stomach to work reliably. That’s why the pill has its fasting routine.
Orforglipron isn’t a peptide; it’s a smaller molecule that our stomach doesn’t break down, so it’s absorbed like an ordinary tablet, with or without food.
At the highest maintenance doses, Foundayo costs about £90 less a month than the Wegovy pill and can be taken without fasting.
The Wegovy pill produced about 2 percentage points more average weight loss in separate trials, although the two tablets have not been compared directly.
Thus, which drug is better value really does depend on the individual. While Foundayo is cheaper at each comparable dose, it doesn’t seem to support as much weight loss, and many people will be happy to pay a higher monthly price if they’re confident it will support their weight-loss goals.
On the other hand, there’s no reason Foundayo can’t support significant weight loss if it’s combined with healthy lifestyle changes, and not everyone needs to lose more than the average weight loss Foundayo supports.
So, Foundayo may be better for you if:
- You’re looking for a cheaper GLP-1 medication
- You need more flexibility with dosing
The Wegovy pill may be better for you if:
- You want higher average weight loss
- You’re happy with the drug’s morning fasting routine
- You want a drug with a longer safety record
How Foundayo compares with injections on cost
Private Wegovy injections cost around £99 to £149 a month at the starting doses and reach about £329 a month at the highest dose. Mounjaro starts at around £129 to £179 and reaches roughly £329 or more.
Providers often heavily discount the first injection pen, sometimes to £79 to £99, but this is likely to be true for initial Foundayo orders.
At the maintenance doses, Foundayo costs £179 a month, compared with around £269 to £329 for the Wegovy pill and injections, making Foundayo about 33% to 46% cheaper. Over the course of a year, this would save around £1,080 to £1,800.
The injections produce more average weight loss in trials than either tablet. Wegovy’s higher 7.2 mg dose produced an average weight loss of 20.7% in its main trial.7

Tablets also remove some of the running costs that come with injections: there are no needles, wipes, or sharps bins to buy.
Storage is simpler too. Unopened Wegovy and Mounjaro pens are kept in the fridge, and you need a cool bag in your hand luggage if you travel with them, which our guide to travelling with Mounjaro explains. Foundayo, like the Wegovy pill, doesn’t need refrigerating at all.
When Foundayo could be available on the NHS
Foundayo isn’t available on the NHS, and MHRA approval alone doesn’t change that. NHS funding is a separate decision, made by NICE, the body that decides which medications the NHS pays for.
NICE is already assessing Foundayo for weight management, with final guidance expected on 18th November 2026.5 If the decision is positive, NHS prescribing could begin during 2027.

If a medication is prescribed to you on the NHS, you pay only the standard prescription charge, which is around £10 an item in England and free in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

What’s included in the price
When Foundayo goes on sale, expect most providers to bundle in an online consultation, a clinician to check whether it’s right for you, and delivery. That’s how the Wegovy pill and the injections are sold in the UK today.
Some providers charge a separate consultation fee, so it’s worth checking whether the monthly price is all-inclusive.
What varies most is the support around the medication. Some providers will send you the tablets without any support around nutrition and lifestyle.
Others, such as Second Nature, include structured habit-change support from registered dietitians and nutritionists.
That support is designed to help you build eating and activity habits that support sustainable weight loss and prevent future weight regain.
The cost of weight regain over time
Online pharmacies will generally offer GLP-1 medications at a lower monthly cost than habit-change programmes such as Second Nature.
But it’s important to consider the long-term cost and how likely you are to maintain weight loss over time.
In the main semaglutide withdrawal trial, people who stopped regained around two-thirds of the weight they had lost within a year.6
They had been given only basic lifestyle advice, so the habits they needed to develop to prevent regain weren’t in place.
Without that support, many people fall into a cycle of spending several months on the medication, stopping, regaining much of the weight, and then starting again.
Each restart means paying for the medication again, so the total cost climbs with every cycle.
A structured programme like Second Nature works more like a one-time investment. You spend around a year or more on the medication, taper off gradually, and the habits built along the way keep the weight off afterwards.
Over five years, the medication-only pattern can cost more than a structured programme, even where the monthly price looks similar, because each round of regain leads to another round of medication.
