Foundayo is available to pre-order through Second Nature. You complete our clinical eligibility assessment, and if you’re approved, your first month’s medication is dispatched as soon as Foundayo becomes available.
Foundayo itself isn’t on sale anywhere yet. It was approved on 10th August 2026, and a newly approved medication usually takes a few weeks to reach pharmacies and online providers.1
The Wegovy pill followed the same pattern. The MHRA approved it on 11th June 2026, and it went on sale around three and a half weeks later, on 6th July.
Once it’s on sale, you’ll also be able to buy it from other regulated providers, including registered online pharmacies, if you meet the eligibility criteria.
Because Foundayo is a prescription-only medication, every regulated provider will ask you to complete a medical assessment before you can place an order.

Who’s eligible for Foundayo in the UK
The MHRA has licensed Foundayo for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition.1
Weight-related conditions include type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obstructive sleep apnoea, and high cholesterol.
These are the same criteria as for Wegovy, Mounjaro, and the Wegovy pill, so if you’re already eligible for any of those, you’ll meet the BMI criteria for Foundayo.
The licence also covers weight maintenance, so Foundayo can be prescribed to help you keep weight off after losing it, not only to lose it in the first place.1
Foundayo is also licensed separately to improve blood sugar control in adults living with type 2 diabetes, though this guide covers the weight-management licence.1
A prescriber will also check your medical history and current medications, as Foundayo isn’t suitable for everyone. For example, it’s not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
How much Foundayo will cost
Eli Lilly hasn’t announced a UK price for Foundayo, and each provider will set its own monthly cost when it goes on sale.
In the U.S., where Foundayo launched in April 2026, Lilly’s self-pay price ranges from $149 a month at the lowest dose to $349 a month at the highest.
U.S. prices don’t translate directly to the UK. The Wegovy pill costs from £149 a month through Second Nature.
Private Wegovy injections range from around £80 to £150 a month at the starting doses, rising to £269 to £349 at the highest.
When UK prices are announced, check whether the monthly cost includes clinical support or whether that’s charged separately.
How buying Foundayo online will work
The process will be similar across most regulated providers, and it’s the same one used for the Wegovy pill and the injections:
- Complete an online eligibility quiz covering your height, weight, medical history, and current medications
- A UK-registered clinician reviews your answers to confirm the medication is safe and suitable for you; this process will normally take 1-2 working days
- If you’re approved, you place your order and choose your delivery details
- Your first month’s medication is dispatched to your chosen address
If you pre-order through Second Nature, you go through the same assessment now, and your order is dispatched once Foundayo goes on sale.
If a provider turns you down, don’t try to work around the decision by giving different answers elsewhere, as the eligibility checks exist to keep you safe. We’d recommend speaking with your GP about your options via the NHS.
Foundayo produces an average weight loss of 11.2%
ATTAIN-1, the main clinical trial of Foundayo, followed 3,127 adults for 72 weeks. Participants were living with obesity, or with overweight plus at least one weight-related condition.2
People taking the highest dose of 36 mg lost an average of 11.2% of their body weight, compared with 2.1% in the placebo group.2
Just over half (54.6%) of the people on this dose lost at least 10% of their body weight.2
You may see a figure of 12.4% quoted elsewhere, which describes the people who stayed on treatment for the full trial. Consider this the higher potential average of the drug if it’s taken every day, and healthy habits are developed alongside it.
The 11.2% includes everyone who joined the trial, whether or not they completed it, and it’s the figure we use across our guides because it better reflects what tends to happen across a real-world group.
Still, these figures are just averages, and the true potential of how much weight we can lose on these medications depends on how well we respond to them and whether we make lifestyle changes alongside them.
The average weight loss of Foundayo may be around 11-12%, but that’s not to say that someone couldn’t lose 20% of their body weight or more (if they needed to) if they made positive lifestyle changes alongside the medication.
Like Wegovy and Mounjaro, Foundayo works on GLP-1, a hormone our body produces in the gut after eating, which reduces hunger and quiets food noise.
Unlike semaglutide, Foundayo isn’t a modified copy of that hormone. It’s a small molecule that mimics the hormone’s action at the same receptor, which is why it can be absorbed like an ordinary tablet.

These trials tested different medications in different groups of people, so the figures are a guide rather than a direct comparison.

Foundayo is also licensed for weight maintenance
Foundayo’s UK licence covers weight maintenance as well as weight loss, and a dedicated trial supports that part of it.1
ATTAIN-MAINTAIN followed 376 people who had already lost weight on Mounjaro or Wegovy injections, and switched them to either Foundayo or a placebo for a year.6
People who switched to Foundayo kept around 75 to 79% of the weight they’d lost. People who switched to a placebo kept around 38 to 49%.6

Who Foundayo suits best
Mounjaro and the 7.2 mg Wegovy injection produce the biggest average weight losses in trials, at 20.2% and 20.7%.4,5
But many people don’t need to lose 20% of their body weight.
In our experience, many people need extra help with their appetite to lose 10 to 15% of their body weight, and to keep it off in the long term.
If you’re in that group, and you’d rather take a tablet at any time of day than have a weekly injection or follow the Wegovy pill’s morning fasting routine, Foundayo is likely to suit you.
Foundayo is also an option for people coming off Mounjaro or Wegovy injections. The ATTAIN-MAINTAIN results above suggest it can help you keep off most of the weight you’ve lost.6
If the largest possible weight loss is your priority, Mounjaro or the 7.2 mg Wegovy injection may suit you better.
If you want the most effective tablet, the Wegovy pill produced more average weight loss than Foundayo (13.6% versus 11.2%), though it comes with strict rules about food and water timing.2,3

How you take Foundayo
Foundayo is taken once a day, at any time of day, with or without food.1
This is the main practical difference from the Wegovy pill, which has to be taken when you wake up, on an empty stomach, with no more than half a glass of water, followed by a 30-minute wait before eating or drinking anything else.
Semaglutide is a peptide, which the stomach breaks down in the same way it breaks down protein in food, so the Wegovy pill only works if it’s absorbed on an empty stomach.
Foundayo is a small molecule rather than a peptide, so it passes through the stomach without being broken down and is absorbed like an ordinary tablet.
Storage is simpler, too. The tablets are kept at room temperature, while the injection pens need to be refrigerated before first use.
Treatment starts at 0.8 mg a day and increases through 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg, and 14.5 mg up to the highest dose of 17.2 mg, with at least a month at each level.1
The tablet strengths look different from the doses reported in the trials because the trials used an earlier capsule form of the drug. The 17.2 mg tablet delivers the same dose as the trial’s 36 mg capsule.
The most common side effects are gut-related, including nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion, and abdominal pain.1
In ATTAIN-1, between 5.3% and 10.3% of people taking Foundayo stopped treatment because of side effects, depending on the dose, compared with 2.7% in the placebo group.2
Serious side effects are rare. Contact your GP or prescriber urgently if you have severe stomach pain that doesn’t settle, as this can be a sign of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
Can you get Foundayo on the NHS?
No, Foundayo isn’t available on the NHS, as it needs to be approved by NICE before it can be provided on the NHS.1
Approval by the MHRA and NHS funding are two separate decisions, made by two different organisations.
NICE, the body that decides which medications the NHS funds, now needs to assess whether Foundayo represents good value.1 There’s no confirmed timeline for that decision.
Wegovy injections are already available through NHS specialist weight management services, and Mounjaro through GP practices in a phased rollout, both for people who meet stricter criteria.

How to buy weight-loss medication safely online
Foundayo is a prescription-only medication, so any website offering it without a medical assessment is selling it illegally.
Until it officially goes on sale in the UK, regulated providers can take pre-orders but can’t dispatch the medication, so be cautious of any site claiming to have Foundayo in stock today.
Once it’s available, before you order from any provider, check that:
- They ask about your height, weight, medical history, and medications before prescribing
- The clinician prescribing your medication is registered in the UK
- The pharmacy dispensing your medication is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (the regulator for UK pharmacies)
- The price is close to what other regulated providers charge
An unusually low price, no medical questions, or sales through social media are all signs of an unregulated seller, and a higher risk of counterfeit medication.

What happens if you stop taking Foundayo?
Stopping a GLP-1 medication often leads to weight regain if you stop suddenly and haven’t developed the habits needed to maintain the weight loss.
In the STEP 4 trial, people who stopped the 2.4 mg Wegovy injection regained an average of 6.9% of their body weight over the following 48 weeks.7
