When will Wegovy be available on the NHS?
Wegovy was initially planned to launch in May 2023, but the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk had to delay the release until Monday 4th September when Novo confirmed Wegovy would launch with limited supply in the UK.
How do I qualify for a Wegovy prescription on the NHS?
You’ll need to pass strict eligibility criteria to be approved for a prescription of Wegovy alongside access to the Second Nature programme.
This includes a BMI over 35 and living with at least one obesity-related comorbidity, such as high blood pressure.
Can I get Wegovy without a prescription?
No, you’ll only be able to get Wegovy with a prescription. But you won’t necessarily need to obtain this prescription via the NHS, you’ll also be able to apply for a prescription via private healthcare companies.
As confirmed in the Spring, you can purchase Wegovy from UK pharmacies when it becomes available. However, you’ll still need to meet the eligibility criteria for the medication and receive approval from the prescribing pharmacist.
How much will Wegovy cost?
Getting a prescription for Wegovy via the NHS will be free (outside the typical £9.65 prescription charge). However, if you don’t qualify for Wegovy via the NHS, you can expect to pay at least £299 monthly in 2023.
These prices may come down in 2024 as more semaglutide manufacturing plants are produced, but at the moment, everything is in very short supply due to the popularity of Wegovy and Ozempic.
We’d generally recommend trying Second Nature’s weight-loss programme before considering a weight-loss jab. Changing your habits is the most sustainable way to achieve long-term weight loss, and it’s also less expensive.
Why should I buy Wegovy from Second Nature?
If you’ve decided that you would like to try Wegovy and can’t access Second Nature via the NHS, and you also meet the eligibility criteria, then you might ask yourself the question: Why choose Second Nature over other providers?
Our answer would be: for peace of mind
Second Nature is the only UK company that provides private weight-loss injections and is also trusted by the NHS to provide weight-loss services.
The NHS has used Second Nature for over 6 years, and we ensure we abide by the highest levels of data security and patient safety.
With that, we believe there comes a level of authenticity and peace of mind that other providers cannot match (e.g. Boots, Superdrug, Juniper, Numan, Manual, etc).
If you want to go with a company with a proven track record of providing the most effective digital weight-loss programme to the NHS (as proven in our official scientific publications in the British Medical Journal, and others), then give us a go.
