slimmr and Second Nature are weight-loss programmes offering Wegovy and Mounjaro injections.

The main obvious difference between slimmr and Second Nature is that the cost of medication with Second Nature includes our digital programme with access to a registered nutritionist or dietitian.

slimmr provides weight-loss injections individually and you need to pay extra for add-on support, like a private dietitian or a psychotherapist.

Additionally, slimmr is a very new brand that launched its programme in 2024. Second Nature has been running for 10 years and has been used by the NHS for over 6 years, building up a base of trust and credibility.

We’ve helped over 250,000 people in the UK lose weight, and over half of NHS trusts in England now use Second Nature services.

slimmr’s website also contains some questionable information. For example, it lists the eligibility criteria for weight-loss injections in the UK.

Advertising the eligibility criteria is potentially harmful when obtaining digital prescriptions, as people could use this information to adjust their consultations to ensure they obtain the medication.

We don’t publicise our eligibility criteria to provide more assurance that everyone joining the programme is eligible under the strict guidelines provided by the MHRA.

Based on this, if you’re looking for a weight-loss programme alongside a GLP-1 medication like Wegovy and Mounjaro we’ll be biased and recommend that you choose Second Nature over slimmr.

If nothing else, for peace of mind, you’re choosing a trusted and established brand.

In terms of the weight-loss programmes, there are similarities and differences, which we’ve summarised below.

The three main similarities between slimmr and Second Nature

  1. Psychological to weight loss: Both programmes use psychological tools to help develop a healthier relationship with food and habits. Although, this will only be relevant to slimmr’s add-on support.
  2. Pharmacy partnerships: Both companies are partnered with a pharmacy to deliver the programme and ensure the clinical safety of all patients.
  3. Dietetic and nutrition support: Both programmes utilise the expertise of registered nutritionists or dietitians as health coaches to provide personalised support. This only applies to slimmr’s add-on support.
Additionally, there are several key differences between the two programmes that go beyond the level of experience that we’ve described above. These are summarised below.

The three main differences between slimmr and Second Nature

1) Second Nature’s programme includes access to 1-1 support

Second Nature’s medication-supported programme includes support from a registered dietitian and nutritionist five days a week via a group and private chat.

You also have access to our comprehensive programme designed to retrain your mind, develop healthy habits, and make losing weight feel second nature.

Our programme is delivered entirely via an app so that you can fit it around your lifestyle. Our app includes over 400 recipes, tracking technology, and a meal planner.

You’re also placed in a group of peers on a weekly weight-loss injection so you can share your journey with like-minded people.

In comparison, slimmr’s programme only offers additional support if you pay for the add-ons after purchasing the medication.

The support offered includes a dietitian support group (£175), 1-1 dietitian consultations (£150), or psychotherapy (£840 for six sessions).

2) Second Nature is used by the NHS and NICE-approved

Second Nature has been used by the NHS since 2017. We’ve delivered programmes for the NHS in type 2 diabetes management, diabetes prevention, and weight management.

The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recently announced that Wegovy would be available via digital weight management services provided by Second Nature and three other companies supporting the NHS.

This approval recognises the high level of patient care and support that Second Nature has provided our members in the past.

Whilst our Wegovy and Mounjaro weight-loss programmes are private and not currently used by the NHS, we’ve built the programmes with a focus on scientific evidence, patient safety, and data security.

In comparison, slimmr has no affiliations with the NHS or trusted healthcare providers in the UK. (This isn’t to say they won’t continue to grow and develop these partnerships in the future.)

3) Cost and Trustpilot reviews

  • The total monthly cost of the Second Nature programme, including GLP-1 medication and access to a registered dietitian and nutritionist is £229, rising to £299
  • The total monthly cost of Wegovy with slimmr starts at £189, before rising with each dose to £249 at the highest dose of 15mg. This cost doesn’t include any additional support.
  • The total monthly cost of Wegovy with slimmr starts at £189, before rising with each dose to £299 at the highest dose of 2.4mg. This cost doesn’t include any additional support.
  • slimmr offers a range of add-on packages ranging from dietetic support to access to a psychotherapist. The costs for these range from £175 for the dietetic support group, to £1,560 for twelve sessions with a psychotherapist.
  • Second Nature’s current Trustpilot score based on 7,468 reviews is 4.8, and are rated as ‘Excellent’
  • slimmr don’t have a Trustpilot account or reviews as it only launched in 2024

Weight-loss injections are designed as additional tools for weight management interventions and shouldn’t be considered lifelong medications.

Instead, they should be used to help you kickstart your weight loss and healthy journey while you commit to living a healthier lifestyle.

Consider the use of antidepressants for people living with depression. They’re not designed to cure the condition. Instead, they’re designed to allow room for therapy to treat the condition’s underlying cause.

Mounjaro, and other weight loss injections, like Ozempic and Wegovy, are similar. They can allow you to make lifestyle changes to support long-term weight loss maintenance.

Mounjaro can help silence food-related thoughts and also give you a boost of confidence with more immediate weight-loss results.

This helps to buy you the time and headspace to understand why your body may have struggled to lose weight previously, and to build new long-term healthy habits.

The core focus of our medication programmes is to calm down the feeling of food noise, lower your cravings, and allow you to build healthier habits to keep the weight off for good.

The ultimate goal is to make losing weight feel second nature.

Second Nature’s medication-supported programmes

Second Nature has two medication-supported programmes: a Wegovy weight-loss programme and a Mounjaro weight-loss programme.

If you’ve made the decision to try Wegovy or Mounjaro (assuming you’re eligible), why should you choose Second Nature over other medication providers?

For peace of mind.

Second Nature has worked with the NHS for over 6 years providing weight-loss programmes across the UK.

Whilst our Wegovy and Mounjaro weight-loss programmes are private and not currently used by the NHS, we’ve built the programmes with a focus on scientific evidence, patient safety, and data security.

We hope that our 6+ years of working with the NHS and building a track record of effective weight-loss results will give you peace of mind to give us a try.
