How much Mounjaro costs
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a weekly injection and, at higher doses, the most expensive GLP-1 medication in the UK.
Treatment starts at the lowest dose and increases gradually to reduce the risk of side effects. As the dose increases, the monthly price usually increases as well.

How much Wegovy costs
Wegovy (semaglutide) is also a weekly injection. At the highest dose of 7.2 mg, it’s usually priced slightly lower than Mounjaro, at around £300 per month compared with roughly £329+, and it starts at £99-£159 per month on the lowest dose.

How much the Wegovy pill costs
The Wegovy pill is a daily tablet version of semaglutide, approved by the MHRA on 11th June 2026 and now available privately in the UK.1 It costs around £99 to £149 a month to start, rising to roughly £269 a month at the highest dose.

How much Foundayo costs
Foundayo (orforglipron) is a once-a-day GLP-1 tablet approved in the UK for weight management and type 2 diabetes.6
Second Nature’s monthly plan costs £129 for 0.8 mg, 2.5 mg, and 5.5 mg; £149 for 9 mg; and £179 for 14.5 mg and 17.2 mg.
The six-month plan costs £114, £134, and £164 a month across the same dose groups. The 12-month plan costs £104, £124, and £154 a month.
A standard £50 discount applies to the first month.

Why the first month is the cheapest
Most providers advertise a low first-month price, often £40 or £50 off, to attract new patients. That offer covers only the first month.
From month two, you pay the standard ongoing prices. And because almost everyone moves up to a higher dose over the first few months to support more weight loss, the monthly cost rises again as the dose increases.
The £129 headline price applies to the first month at the starting dose.
Some people remain on a lower dose if it continues to reduce hunger and cravings. If you’re losing weight sustainably and managing side effects well, then there’s no clinical reason to increase the dose.

The real cost of weight regain
Stopping a GLP-1 medication suddenly without having built eating habits to manage hunger increases the risk of weight regain.
In the STEP 1 trial extension, people who stopped semaglutide regained around two-thirds of the weight they had lost within a year.2
Stopping and restarting the medication every few years means paying for another course of treatment each time.
Gradually reducing the dose and building eating habits that help manage hunger can lower the risk of needing to restart.
What you’re paying for beyond the medication
Two providers can charge a similar monthly price and include different things alongside the medication, such as support from a registered nutritionist, access to an app, and medical oversight.
At a minimum, the price covers the medication, an online consultation, and a prescription from a registered prescriber.
With the injections, it should also cover needles, alcohol wipes and a sharps bin, though some pharmacies charge for these on top.
Some providers include regular clinical reviews and support from a registered dietitian or health coach. Others provide only the medication, consultation, and prescription.

Can you get GLP-1 medication funded on the NHS?
You can get Mounjaro or Wegovy on the NHS, but only if you meet strict criteria, and the medications are currently available only to those with the greatest clinical need.
Foundayo is approved for weight management but isn’t currently funded by the NHS. NICE is assessing it, with guidance expected on 18th November 2026.7
Mounjaro is being introduced through GP surgeries in stages. The earliest group was limited to people with a BMI of 40 or above, plus at least four weight-related conditions.
From 23rd June 2026, this widened to include a BMI of 35 to 39.9 with at least four qualifying conditions.3,4
Wegovy is available through specialist NHS weight-management services for people with a BMI of 35 or above, or 32.5 or above for some ethnic groups, who also have a weight-related health problem.3
If you’re funded by the NHS, you pay only the standard prescription charge, which is around £10 per item in England and free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In practice, most people don’t yet qualify, and waiting lists for specialist services are long, so most patients on GLP-1 medications pay privately.

How to keep your costs down
Staying on a lower dose keeps the monthly price lower. If that dose is still reducing hunger and you’re losing weight sustainably, there’s no obvious clinical reason to increase it.
Some providers increase the dose each month as standard. At Second Nature, the clinical team reviews whether an increase is needed, and many members remain on lower doses of Wegovy or Mounjaro.
