We sat down with Anne to find out how Second Nature has helped her become the best version of herself, while empowering others around her to do the same.
If you ask any of my family members, they’ll tell you that the teacher and nurturer in me has been present from an early age. I’ve always had an appetite for learning and sharing that knowledge with others – which is part of the reason why I joined Second Nature. A big driver for me was the hunger to truly understand how to eat in a way that empowered my body to be the best that it could be.

This was especially true after having my two youngest children. I noticed that I had put on a bit of weight and feeling heavy and rigid, I thought “I’m going to do something to change this”. I really wanted to be physically present for my kids by being able to run after and keep up with them. At the time, I didn’t feel like I could do that.
So, after getting back into exercising and beginning aromatherapy, Second Nature was the final piece of the puzzle for me. Finally I had found something that dug deeper than my (at the time) surface level understanding of healthy living – eating your 5 fruits and veg a day, exercising regularly and drinking 2 litres of water. I’ve learnt what the right food combinations look like for me, the portion sizes I should be eating, about food groups and their impact on my health, how the body works and so much more. I’ve also exposed myself to a variety of new foods and even look forward to cooking now! My energy
levels have improved, as well as my iron deficiency and I feel so much stronger within myself.

So much so that I was able to run my first marathon in October 2021, after running my first race in August of the same year. Once I set my mind to something, I’m going to achieve it. My mind was set on eating well and adopting great principles for my life and with the help of Second Nature I have achieved it. Losing weight was an added bonus in all of this and so was the injection of colour into my clothing. I’ve gone from the attitude of black “hiding a multitude of sins” to welcoming blues, oranges and yellows into my wardrobe.
With Second Nature, I feel like it can, and will, only get better. I’m hopeful for a future where I can stay feeling healthy because of the tools given to me and the habits that have been ingrained in me by this programme.
