Broccoli mash

Ingredients

Serves: 4

1 small broccoli, diced

1 small cauliflower, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

25g butter

1-2 tbsp whole milk or cream

2 handfuls Cheddar cheese

Method

  1. Steam the diced broccoli and cauliflower, until softened.

  2. Add the broccoli, cauliflower, garlic, butter, and milk to a large mixing bowl, and season with salt and pepper.

  3. Using a handheld blender, blend the mixture until softened and creamy. If too thick, add another tbsp of milk.

  4. Layer the blended broccoli/cauliflower mash on top of a cottage pie, shepherd’s pie, chicken pie, or fish pie mixture. Sprinkle generously with Cheddar and bake in the oven for 30mins, or until golden.
